I Had It In My Heart

1 Chronicles 28:2-3, “King David rose to his feet and said: “Listen to me, my brothers and my people. I had it in my heart to build a house as a place of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, for the footstool of our God, and I made plans to build it. 3 But God said to me, ‘You are not to build a house for my Name, because you are a warrior and have shed blood.”
David had it in his heart to build a house for the Lord and already made plans for it. He was ready to start the project when the Lord told him “you’re not the person I have in mind for the job.”
I’m sure that made him sad and disappointed, but he surrendered to God’s will anyway. Trusting God’s goodness and acknowledging His greatness. David was really a man after God’s own heart!
What’s in your heart today? Are you confident it is from God?
What if He says no? Will you still trust and obey Him?
Here’s my advice: Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Grabe, how timely! Thanks, Ptr Ryan!
