Start Acting Bigger than You Are

“Growing churches (and growing campus ministries) intentionally act bigger than they are. They purposely make decisions, build facilities, and hire staff as though they were twice their size” -Tim Stevens, executive pastor at Granger Community Church

The key word is purposely. Intentionally preparing things in anticipation of growth and future expansion.

Are you believing God to double or triple the number of students in your youth group this year? ((Let’s say from 100 to 300). If yes, what changes and adjustments are you doing NOW to accommodate the growth you’re expecting?

Mega-Campus Ministry Perspective

Ryan | April 1st, 2010 | 1 Comment »

Fruitfulness, Increase, Multiplication, Filling the Earth. That is God’s mandate and desire for His people. As a leader, youth pastor, & campus missionary, you’ve got to have the same perspective as you do campus ministry.
Fruitfulness not barrenness
-Wherever God has placed you (Province, Manila, Abroad) you’re ordained to become fruitful! Never accept the lie that your location/situation is different! There’s got to be a way to grow your campus ministry. After my visit to the middles east & seeing the harvest in our churches (Dubai 1, 300 pips, Sharjah 500 pips; Abu Dhabi 200+ (new church plant); 100+ Fujirah (small groups)) I became more convinced that “fruitfulness” can happen anywhere in the world!

You’re Not Stupid When You Ask

Ryan | March 30th, 2010 | 1 Comment »

Not waiting for someone to give you their suggestions, views, opinion, ideas, help, or word of wisdom. But seeking it, taking the initiative to approach and ask.
I’m thankful for Pastor Ed, my first pastor, for teaching and modeling this to me during my early years in the ministry. He would often invite people from Manila, cover all their expenses, just to come & preach, teach, and impart to our leadership team. Every time he would go to Manila, he would take the initiative to approach people & ask for ideas. Buy them coffee or treat them lunch just to be able to spend time & ask for advice. Unashamed!

Get Out Of Your Local Church

Ryan | March 29th, 2010 | No Comments »

If you’re a youth pastor, campus minister, small group leader, worship leader, or head of creative team, one of the best things you can do to stay sharp, stay fresh, & get new ideas is to get out of your local church from time to time.
Join a short -term mission trip (It’s a must!). Minister to other youth centers (preach in their youth service, camp, etc – but make sure u’re invited). Visit other youth events & services (Its ok not to attend your own youth service sometimes. Try it!). Hang-out with other campus ministers & ministry heads (make the effort dude!). Attend seminars/equipping meetings (don’t be lazy!). Take a break or short vacation (You don’t even have to spend a lot of money for a short break. Sometimes you can have it for free!) Watch a movie, etc..
