Mentoring

Had an interesting discussion yesterday with our campus ministers here in U-belt about “mentoring.” Here are some of their thoughts during the dialogue:
OJ: “No person/leader can mentor you holistically. You need multiple mentors to mentor you in different areas of your life.”
Lennon: “You can have unlimited mentors and not be boxed with few people. You can even be mentored by dead people through their books and writings.”
Lennon again: “I always associate the word humility with mentoring. Secure people seek opportunities to be mentored.”
Krishna: Leaders don’t sign-up for unrealistic mentoring arrangements.
I forgot who: “Don’t wait for people to mentor you/approach you. Take initiative.”
Some of my thoughts:
-Mentoring doesn’t always need to be long and formal (example: one hour per week every wednesday in starbucks). Mentoring moments can also happen in a few minutes; while walking, eating, or simply hanging out with your mentor.
